This archetype package for the magus alters or replaces the following class features: spellstrike, knowledge pool, medium armor, fighter training, improved spell recall, heavy armor, counterstrike, and greater spell access.

Swiftblades are arcane warriors who have devoted themselves to magic that increases speed. They excel in wide-area combat, and their abilities make their movements harder to predict.

Class Skills: At 1st level, a swiftblade adds Acrobatics (Dex) to his list of class skills.

Spontaneous Speed (Su): At 2nd level, the magus can sacrifice a prepared spell to cast a spell of the same level or lower from the following list. He must have the spell in his spellbook in order to cast it. This ability replaces spellstrike.

1—expeditious retreat, jump; 2—blur, mirror image; 3—displacement, haste; 4—dimension door; 5—teleport; 6—time stop.

Double Time (Su): Starting at 7th level, a swiftblade can blend two spells of 3rd level or lower from his spontaneous speed list into a single casting. He must make a concentration check (DC = 15 + twice both spells' levels); if he fails, he loses both spells. If he succeeds, he casts both as a standard action. If either effect is countered or dispelled, both are lost. (Example: as a standard action, a 7th-level swiftblade could cast both blur and haste if he succeeds on a DC 25 concentration check). The swiftblade cannot use this ability in conjunction with feats like Quicken Spell to cast more than two spells per round. This ability replaces knowledge pool.

Residual Speed (Ex): At 7th level, the swiftblade gains a +2 bonus to initiative checks, a +1 dodge bonus to AC, and +10 feet to base land speed. At 13th level, the bonus to initiative increases to +4, the dodge bonus to AC increases to +2, and the bonus to speed increases to +20 feet. The swiftblade can only benefit from this ability when wearing light or no armor, when not carrying a shield, and when unencumbered. This ability replaces the medium armor and heavy armor class abilities.

Fortified Dash (Su): At 10th level, a swiftblade adds half his total magus level to his caster level when determining the DC to dispel or counter any spells he casts from the spontaneous speed list. This ability replaces fighter training.

Improved Spell Recall (Su): At 11th level, when the swiftblade prepares a spell from his spontaneous speed list into a used spell slot by expending points from his arcane pool, he treats the spell as though he had already prepared it and is recalling it. This otherwise functions as the normal magus improved spell recall ability.

Counterslow (Sp): At 16th level, whenever an enemy within reach of the swiftblade successfully casts a spell defensively, the swiftblade may spend 1 point from his arcane pool and make a touch attack against that enemy as an immediate action after the spell is complete. If the swiftblade hits, he slows his target, as the spell, for a number of rounds equal to the swiftblade's Intelligence modifier, unless the target makes a Will save (DC = 10 + 1/2 the swiftblade's level + the swiftblade's Intelligence modifier). This ability replaces counterstrike.

Perfect Haste (Su): At 19th level, the swiftblade adds time stop to his spellbook as a 6th-level magus spell. In addition, the swiftblade may cast any spell of 3rd level or lower from his spontaneous speed list as if it were modified by the Extend Spell feat by spending 1 point from his arcane pool at the time of casting. This option is available whether he is casting the spell normally or using spontaneous speed, and does not increase the spell's casting time or effective level. This ability replaces greater spell access.
